Scope of kidneys

Right now Dad is in pre-op for a kidney surgery, just a small one, a scope to go in and find the source of the bleeding and  see if they can fix it there. They think it might be somewhat due to the radiation seeds put in when he had prostate cancer treatment. He received 2 units of blood yesterday night, and that seemed to pick him up a lot he had a good day yesterday.  If his breathing doesn't improve today they may take him in for open heart surgery tomorrow.  Also before he goes in for that surgery, they have to do a kind of invasive scope of his heart to make sure he doesn't have any blockages.  They briefly explained that so we can choose that one or a CT scan which is less accurate.  Or they could go in blind because of the risk in his brain.  SO...decisions.  We are kinda letting the docs decide what they think is best for now, they know more than us.   He had some bad nightmares and hallucinations last night, not associated with the medicines he's on.  So pray that he will be peaceful and continue to get stronger for his surgery.  He is getting stronger in his body, he can roll himself up alright, and he stood on the scale by himself for about 10 seconds, and he was up in the chair for 3 hours yesterday. So he does have strong days and mentally he is still all there. Still joking around and talking good.  Right now Diane,Rich, Grandma and Cindy are here with us now.  Keep on praying for strength and healing for Dad. Praise God for all the healing so far!  Love you all, Aloha

  1. Dear Katelyn, Bob and Jan,

We greatly appreciate the updates. The Wednesday morning Bible Study group devoted much time in prayer for you this morning. It feels to me like we are in the eye of the storm ... we abide in God, and God abides in us ... we live in faith ... we dwell in trust ... we have hope beyond hope. God is bigger than the storm ... vastly greater than any storm. God is with us. Even if sometimes we can't feel his Presence, he is still holding us and carrying us, just as it says in the poem entitled "Footsteps". When the writer of the poem asks God why he abandoned him, God said, "My precious child, I would never leave you. When you saw only one set of footsteps in the sand, it was then that I was carrying you."

    Blessings,
    Donna

  2. Katelyn, your parents are long-time, special friends and we know something of their great strength and love for each other and their family and God and how it has carried them through hard times. I can clearly see these traits have been passed to you (and to Breck also I'm sure). God bless you.

Bob and Jan, hang on to what is good and beautiful and from God, it is our prayer that those things will pull you through. Love, Pam and Mark

  3. My dear friend,
It saddens me to hear of Bob's suffering and the trauma for your family. I wake and fall asleep with prayers for strength, healing and
    God's peace for Bob.

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23

Thank you for the updates. May your family feel the love and prayers of many people lifting you up.

    In Christ's Love,
    Bonnie Knapper
